According to AIVtech chairman and CEO JinLin Guo, they launched production of LED-backlit LCD TVs in April 2010 and expect led high bay light TVs to contribute a sizable portion of their revenue in 2010.It’s said that they have already established relationships with many well-known European retailers and distributors and have obtained excellent feedback following their first order from Europea Trade in June."
Along above cooperation, the ODM contract between AIVtech, Europea Trade and its trading partner Q Media is for the manufacture of LCD TVs that employ LED backlighting, offering improved lifetime, brightness, and picture quality versus traditional fluorescent tube-backlit LCD TVs.Due to the scarcity of electronic components from upper stream, for production capacity entire LED industry has shrunk significantly. Also, many major international LED manufacturers have extended its delivery time to reflect to this emergency. As today, the lead time has been stretched out from 5 weeks to nearly 20 weeks. This bad situation swept the LED industry, which is in rapidly growing stage now. The serious impact does not only affect LED manufacturers, but also for distributors and trading companies who are facing huge financial penalty by postponing delivery schedule. The estimated amount of damage is more than several billions US dollars.
According to LED industry professionals, the chaos of electronic components shortage is expending to all relative businesses. The demand of LED is growing in a much faster pace than anyone expected. The entire market is disturbed by some distributors fighting for inventory. Since the end of 2009, the lack of electronic components led to price increase for metal raw material. Today LED industry also shares the panic for lacking of electronic components.
Based on the report published by LED professional media, LEDinside, although the capacity of LED manufacturers has been strategically increased, the shortage of blue jewels and other essential components is still enormous. As 2010 Q2, the price of components has doubled, and created a disaster to LED Linear high bay light. According to The Commercial Times, the most popular business newspaper in Taiwan, points out, besides the lack of LED chips, the shortage of electronic components is another critical reason for decreasing production. Furthermore, the demand of LED lighting is exceeds supply significantly. The severe shortage situation may lead to battle-for-product crisis, which create huge indirect impact to LED distributors.

it has to be assisted by an incentive that affects the pocket book as well
Nevada and AoTuroaLED of Auckland, New Zealand announced today that the companies are offering a "Green Step Forward" program for the month of May 2010 that facilitates the worldwide effort to reduce LED high bay lighting. As the use of fossil fuels continues to increase globally and power prices continue to climb there are international efforts to reduce carbon emissions such as using green energy efficient technologies that use sustainable low carbon footprint approaches to manufacturing, packaging, and delivery.
The "Green Step Forward" program allows customers to receive up to 20% off the Axiom NZ white LED products for signage lighting applications replacing neon and fluorescent and 20% off its AoTuroaLED retrofit kits for fluorescent T-Bar or suspended ceiling interior light fixtures and parking garage or car park lighting fixtures. The program is valid from May 1 – May 31, and is not valid with any other coupon or incentive.
"The 'Green Step Forward' program allows customers to receive a significant discount on our high brightness and low energy LED products to either continue or to start reducing one's Carbon Footprint," stated Manuel Lynch, CEO and Director of AoTuroaLED and Axiom NZ LED. "Sometimes it isn't just the desire to want to reduce carbon emissions that drives people to make the change, it has to be assisted by an incentive that affects the pocket book as well. People like to see their decisions turn the bottom line green as well.
The two companies further confirmed their commitment to help their customers maintain positive cash flow and/or "Staying in the Green". Axiom NZ LED and AoTuroaLED have their customers' best interests in mind to prevent legal issues and to help save their customers' money through offering led high bay light technology that drastically saves money through lowered maintenance costs.

the luminaire has reached the end of its service life
In the fourth quarter 2009 VPEC placed its order for multiple additional epitaxial growth reactors making it the single largest purchase of its kind for the company this year. The systems will be commissioned at the LED high bay lighting modern facility in Ping-Jen City, Taoyuan, Taiwan during the second and third quarters of 2010.
Vice President Neil Chen of VPEC said they have been using several AIX 2600 mass production MOCVD reactor systems for some years now. These have contributed greatly to their strong market share for optoelectronic and microwave epiwafers in Taiwan and worldwide.Lithonia says that the luminaire adjusts itself to eliminate the waste of over lighting. Also, the RTLED tracks its own operating hours and provides a visual indicator when the luminaire has reached the end of its service life.
Sunpu-Opto Semiconductor Ltd., a chinese LED fixture maker, is said to be a Cleveland's exclusive supplier of LED streetlights, traffic lights, and fluorescent tube replacements for nearly $10 million. In exchange the company agreed to relocate its North American headquarters to Cleveland, bringing 350 jobs. The City Council had to vote on the deal before the plan was approved. The Cleveland city council voted to delay the vote.
Many of members of the city council expressed concerns that the contract would not be given to a U.S.-based company. At the led high bay light city council meeting, some competitors noted that the lighting contract does not include competitive bidding, which is illegal under the current city charter.

the exercise of the Efficient Lights option
The IES transaction was completed on April 1, 2010, and the acquisition ownership and deal structure is similar to the structure the Company successfully utilized during the development of its EfficientLights business. Specifically, PowerSecure owns a two-thirds controlling interest in IES, which it acquired for cash proceeds of $4.4 million, and the IES management team owns the remaining one-third.
As a result, PowerSecure will include the financial results of IES on a consolidated basis in its financial statements, with adjustments to reduce PowerSecure’s net income for the minority interest portion of IES’s net income. Additionally, PowerSecure has the option to increase its ownership of IES to 100% by issuing PowerSecure common shares in exchange for the remaining one-third ownership interest in IES. The number of shares led high bay lights issued will be determined according to a formula based on PowerSecure’s Revenue and E.P.S. multiples, subject to a $10 million minimum value. The formula enables PowerSecure to acquire the remaining one-third interest on terms that are accretive to the Company’s E.P.S., while providing the IES management team with significant incentives for delivering profitable growth.
PowerSecure’s plan to exercise its option to increase its ownership of EfficientLights from 67% to 100% recognizes the highly successful results EfficientLights has posted to date, its strong backlog of orders for 2010, and its strong prospects for future growth. The transaction is expected to be accretive, and will involve the issuance of PowerSecure common shares in exchange for the remaining one-third minority interest in EfficientLights.
The number of shares to be issued in exchange for the remaining one-third interest will be 1,000,000 shares, provided that if the average closing price of the PowerSecure shares over the ten days preceding the transaction is less than $10.00 per share, then the number of shares delivered increases to maintain a transaction value of $10.0 million. After the exercise of the Efficient Lights option, EfficientLights will become a wholly-owned subsidiary and the Company will realize 100% of the EfficientLights profit, and will no longer reduce its net income for the amount attributable to the EfficientLights non-controlling interest.
White LEDs are well-known in various fields such as for LCD TV’s backlights or lighting and they require strict color control of the chromaticity range, especially in white LED linear high bay light for general lighting. Usually, the products need to be ranked and sorted according to the requirements before shipment, as the color always varies even if the products are produced in the same lot.

the semiconductor ecological light source
Per Roger Xiao, Asia Pacific Sales Director of Labsphere, a key reason the Institute selected Labsphere is, “Labsphere can commit to the customer that we can help them with customization of led high bay light software locally; also both parties can cooperate on building a SSL test and measurement platform that complies with international industry trends.
He is widely known for having developed the high-brightness blue LED based on GaN in 1993 while working for Nichia Corporation in Japan. In those days, developing a blue LED was considered impossible; only red and green LEDs had been available for the prior 20 years. Prof. Nakamura’s innovation allowed LED manufacturers to produce LEDs with three primary colors (red, green and blue) which could be mixed to express 16 million colors. Perhaps most importantly, the new technology was leveraged by the LED industry to begin commercial production of white LEDs, the semiconductor ecological light source.
In 2006, Nakamura won the Millennium Technology Prize of Finland, known as “the Nobel Prize in the technology field.” In 2004, he received the Benjamin Franklin Medal in the engineering segment, previously conferred upon Thomas Edison and Albert Einstein. In addition, he won The LED linear high bay light, given to only six scientists who have made an outstanding contribution to innovation of technology. In 2009, he received the Harvey Prize from the Technion in Israel.
