the inflexibility of integrated LED luminaires now used in commercial and consumer settings

Beginning earlier this year, bulbs.com has carefully reviewed and added over 75 LED products to its broad line of over 3,500 lighting products to help businesses and consumers. "We continually strive to provide our customers with the most innovative and energy efficient lighting solutions, and we believe we have delivered again with the Cree LED lineup," Connors added.

YAHAM lighting with energy efficient long–lasting LEDs in directional applications such as recessed downlights, tracks, pendants and sconces becomes as easy as changing a standard light bulb early next year. A new technology “twist” from GE Consumer & Industrial—a small puck–shaped LED module that gives lighting designers and end–users the ability to easily upgrade LED lighting as technology advances—addresses the inflexibility of integrated LED luminaires now used in commercial and consumer settings.

The new module‘s one–of–a–kind ease of installation, a clockwise twist motion, contrasts sharply with current integrated LED luminaires and LED modules that are not easily replaceable because they require mechanical fasteners to couple the LED package to a heat sink, and a plug to make the electrical connection. With the new GE offering, the necessary thermal and electrical connections are made with a simple twist of the module into its socket.

What makes the design of the LED candle innovative

The new solar LED floodlighting system is available to order now from YAHAM on a project basis. Philips can provide a total solution including the LED floodlights, portable poles, solar panels and batteries, or just a set of floodlights. The system can also be used for non-sporting applications in locations without access to an electricity grid, such as evening classes in remote villages, safety and security, shops or outdoor markets, or emergency lighting for disaster situations.

The retrofit lamp is designed to be seen. Its performance is matched by a cool, streamlined styling. What makes the design of the LED candle innovative and different from other LEDs is the candle shape and its bright sparkling and ambient light effect. The LED candle is made specifically for chandeliers and kind-like luminaires. The HKDA Award originated in Hong Kong in 1975 and has become one of the biggest professional design competitions in the region. It is a comprehensive multidisciplinary award for professional design in the fields of graphic, product, spatial and new media.

This result demonstrates Cree’s continued focus on pushing the performance of its LEDs. Cree’s tests confirmed that the LED produced 197 lumens of light output and achieved 186 lumens per watt efficacy at a correlated color temperature of 4577K. The tests were conducted under standard LED test conditions at a drive current of 350mA, at room temperature. This result is a testament to the tremendous progress Cree has made this year,” said John Edmond, Cree co-founder and director of advanced optoelectronics. “As energy efficiency becomes increasingly important in addressing our nation’s energy challenges, Cree is doing its best to deliver the most energy-efficient LED technology possible.

Using the latest energy-efficient LED lighting technology

The new LED luminaires project more than 50 lumens per watt consumed, a relatively high light output considering the low amount of input energy. They contain the newest high-brightness led high bay light and employ Sunovia's patent-pending Aimed Optics(TM) technology to focus maximum light on the ground, virtually eliminating glare, wasted light and light pollution. Specialized cool color rendition allows for considerable visibility, and Camp Lejeune representatives noted that they are able to see colors of objects clearly in the LED light, which was much more difficult in the orange glow of the old metal halide fixtures.

According to CEE, the Position Paper provides manufacturers with the fundamentals on voluntary energy efficiency programs, including information about how they work and what types of incentives they typically use to promote efficient products and services. It also outlines the technical information that efficiency programs need from manufacturers in order to evaluate SSL product performance and consider it for potential inclusion in their promotional efforts. The Position Paper explains how manufacturers can partner with energy efficiency programs to promote quality, efficient SSL products, and as a result, improve sales of these products over time.

By using the approaches outlined in the Position Paper, energy efficiency programs have successfully increased sales and market penetration of traditional energy efficient lighting products, including fluorescent technologies like CFLs and T8 lamps. Program administrators look forward to working with SSL manufacturers to create the same positive outcome for that technology.

Launched on Nov. 30 at simultaneous press events in the Netherlands and South Africa, the system is available as a fully portable solution. Using the latest energy-efficient LED lighting technology, the system can illuminate areas up to 40x20m with bright white light. Advanced battery cells provide up to eight hours of floodlighting on a single solar charge – the equivalent of two or three full evening football matches or training sessions. The system is also highly sustainable, with a rugged design able to withstand the extreme rigors of life in some of the more challenging and remote terrains in the world.

the LEDs at a constant current

Last summer, the scientists field-tested 196 prototypes with the help of children who attended a Danish-run summer school in Zambia. The results showed that some of the lamps had problems due to excessive flexing and light quality degrading after 10 to 20 minutes, which the scientists are fixing by repositioning the solar cells and adding circuitry to deliver power to the LEDs at a constant current. The researchers plan to test improved versions of the lamps in Mali and Malawi.

This investment enables us to expand our presence in China and demonstrates our commitment to serving the growing demands of both our local and global LED customers,” said Chuck Swoboda, Cree chairman and CEO. “We are building on a solid foundation in Huizhou with a strong local management team and a history of manufacturing excellence. We look forward to continued success in China as we drive the led high bay light revolution.”

More than half of Cree’s employees work in China, mostly at the current Huizhou factory. Cree recognizes the support of Party Secretary YeBin Huang and Mayor RuQiu Li during the site selection process.

After being encapsulated in a second sheet of film

Residents have been asked by the city to give their opinion on PolyBrite’s Borealis LED street lighting by contacting the City of Naperville Public Works Department through January 2010. PolyBrite anticipates that continued savings projections will be achieved during this six-month demonstration.

Scientists at the Risø National Laboratory for Sustainable Energy in Denmark have developed an inexpensive way to integrate solar cells, LEDs, and ultrathin lithium batteries to create a lamp that can produce reading-quality light. The lamp's polymer solar cells and circuitry are printed onto large flexible plastic films, and the LEDs, flat batteries, and diodes are mounted using silver epoxy. After being encapsulated in a second sheet of film, the sheets are rolled up and snapped together at the corners with metal fasteners.

Large modules of organic photovoltaics, however, capture just 1 to 2 percent of the photon energy that hits them. But the scientist said even that measly return adds value in the price-sensitive context of rural lighting. In rural areas of Africa, Asia, and Latin America, the average household spends $40-$80 per year for kerosene lamps, and even the cheapest led high bay light devices on the market today cost about a year's worth of kerosene. The total cost of the Denmark scientists' solar-LED lamps is only about $27, and they think they can manufacture an improved version for about $10.
