The Consortium will provide ongoing national organizational structure and guidance to LED City members and new members in the process of evaluating solid-state street lighting technologies meant for public streets and other public areas.

Cree’s LED City Program was established in 2007 to accelerate implementation of LED lighting in municipalities by promoting the benefits that can be achieved through LED lighting and by encouraging users to share experiences and data. Since its inception, the LED City Program has helped cities across the world confidently move to solid-state lighting and member cities are regularly reporting energy savings of 50 to 80 percent and maintenance cost avoidance in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, over the life of the fixtures. The Consortium will provide a forum like the LED City Council Meetings, where buyers and implementers can get information, discuss best practices and share lessons learned.

a leading provider of innovative wireless control solutions for energy-smart buildings, today announced the commercial availability of ControlScope?, a wireless lighting control platform designed to enable lighting manufacturers and solution providers to bring more cost-effective, easy-to-implement lighting systems to market. The company also announced that it has led high bay partnered with Easylite, a leader in lighting control solutions, to provide wireless control systems to its customers. Additionally, the companies have completed a joint installation at a customer’s warehouse facility in Colorado.

“Easylite is committed to delivering easy-to-implement and cost-effective lighting solutions to our customers, and we believe the ControlScope platform can help us honor that commitment,” said Dennis Robinson, COO at Easylite. “Many of our customers are looking to decrease energy usage but do not have the resources or time to undertake a difficult retrofit process. Daintree helps eliminate the rewiring of facilities and shortens the commissioning process, resulting in a more cost-effective implementation, faster energy savings and more powerful control for our customers.”

Easylite has partnered with Daintree to provide a complete wireless lighting control system based on the ControlScope platform for its commercial retrofit customers. SETI claims to be the world’s only commercial manufacturer of Deep UV LEDs and LED lamps. With a product portfolio from 240nm through 400nm SETI serves a wide range of markets including sensing and instrumentation.The firm has recently announced the development of high power single chip led high bay light exceeding 30 mW and with high power lamps commercially available.In addition, SETI has completed a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase I program by the National Science Foundation to develop a prototype of a commercially viable all-LED based portable water disinfection system.

The FUNSOM Laboratory focuses on applying novel soft- and nanomaterials in optical and electronic devices. Fundamental research on molecular design and growth is performed by the group to tune the led high bay light specific physical, electrical, chemical and optical properties of the materials. The AIXTRON system enhances their deposition capabilities for carbon, silicon and germanium based nanostructures, allowing them to controllably produce material for various applications.

The new eco-friendly design which allows for series production and global implementation, utilizes innovative technologies and renewable energy to power one-third of the restaurant's energy consumption. A key role in this context falls to long-lasting interior and exterior LED bulbs saving more than 55 percent of energy consumption annually compared to traditional lighting methods.

The parking area is illuminated by six 60 W SL-Dolphin street lights in neutral white with Phoenix lighting pattern featuring a luminous flux of ca. 6,000 lm and a color temperature of 5,000 K. The Brazilian Government recently created the National Science and Technology Institute for Semiconductor Nanodevices (INCT-DISSE). This involves several Brazilian research groups and its headquarters at the Semiconductor Laboratory (LabSem). DISSE membership includes over twenty top level researchers in the field from eight institutions with long experience in specific areas. It carries out applied and basic research in III-V electronic and optoelectronic devices.

The invalidated Patents are No. 724540, “Laser Beam transmission system and method of the same and lift-off process method,” and No. 588459, “An adjustable laser beam delivery system and method for forming the same.”  Patent No. 588459 was invalidated on June 23rd, 2010 and Patent No. 724540 on July 8th, 2010.

JPSA contended that QMC’s patent claims were invalid over various prior art references including JPSA’s Korean Patent No. 0849779, “Method for separating layers of material”, and Korean Patent led high bay light, “System and method for cutting using a variable astigmatic focal beam spot”.  JPSA’s Chairman, Jeffrey Sercel, stated, “Prior to developing laser systems, QMC was a former Korean sales and service representative of JPSA; therefore, they had key information about our technology and methods.  We were surprised and disappointed to find QMC filing for patents that we already had Patents for.  Despite our disappointment, we continue to invest valuable time and money to protect our highly advanced laser technology, and our years of experience and development work has resulted in JPSA’s strong market presence in scribing and LLO of LEDs.
