The news comes on the back of new research from the Carbon Trust that found
while 96 percent of businesses surveyed said that energy efficiency is an
important consideration when purchasing or upgrading equipment, only half were
confident about manufacturers’ energy efficiency claims. 58 percent of those
surveyed said that they would benefit from a trusted database of accredited
suppliers in advance of purchasing equipment. The accreditation process requires
applicants to submit case studies of their work and answer a number of questions
–including several on insurance and whether the company holds recognised
qualifications for quality assurance, environmental management and health and
safety.
Hugh Jones, Managing Director of Business Advice at the Carbon Trust, said:
“Our survey showed that return on investment is the most important factor for
organisations considering investing in energy efficiency and low carbon
technologies – but accurate business cases require accurate information from
suppliers. The Green Business Directory will make it easy for organisations to
find independently accredited suppliers who have demonstrated their success in
delivering sustainable, low carbon solutions in what is a crowded and
fast-growing market.”
“Our independent accreditation by the Carbon Trust demonstrates that Dialight
has a significant track record in the design and delivery of successful, high
quality, low energy lighting solutions,” said Roy Burton, Dialight’s Group Chief
Executive. “Beyond meeting the specific requirements of the Carbon Trust, our
products have proven in third-party testing to be highly durable as well as
energy efficient. Even under the harshest conditions, our LED systems deliver
exceptional lighting and long-life performance that make total cost of ownership
a winning proposition for even the most demanding applications.”
